One of the goals of the IT organization Subotica 2030 is to improve the state of the environment in our city. We want our employees, and all residents of Subotica, to live in a healthy and beautiful environment. A healthy environment is important to a larger number of people. Our goal is to make Subotica recognizable for its ecological design and attractive to people that are considering our city as a place to move for studies or work.
The action that started all this was the afforestation of the Szeged and Belgrade roads, which we carried out in cooperation with the Green Oasis association. The intention was to tur these roads into green avenues. About 20 Subotica companies joined, and the planting was carried out by about 200 Subotica citizens and employees of donor companies. About 1,000 saplings of sorbus, sycamore and bojosh (gelegunja) were planted.
The greening of Subotica is significant to us because it improves air quality in the city, reduces temperatures during the hot summer months, prevents soil erosion, and creates a windbreak. New planting actions are also being planned, and our organization is actively working on other aspects of environmental protection (water, air, soil).
