Student of the year Staša Stantić - Internship is important

Staša Stantić

Staša Stantić is a valedictorian student at the Polytechnic School, who also belongs to the first generation of students that majored in digital graphics and internet design. She decided on this major because she wanted to try something new, and it seemed promising to her. Already, after the first year she knew that she was not wrong.

"In the beginning, we mostly studied text formatting and basic art forms, and year after year we looked more and more at how to transfer it to web and internet design. I liked that entire process because along the way we visited companies to see how professionals do it. We learned from them, and later they came to school to teach us about it, and I thought that without that, this course would not be completed. That practical part was missing. That was especially important to me", says Staša.

Everything she would learn at school, Staša immediately wanted to apply. And, in the second grade, she participated in a competition for the selection of a logo for the project "Protection of Palić and Ludaš" and won. This is why her logo can be seen today in Palić. This award served her for further projects, so she also made a poster for the Red Cross. Staša also competed in English competitions and contemporary dance, which she has been doing since the age of six. With her classmate Olga Ljubisavljević, she made an app "Open Museum" which won the first prize during Project Week in the Social Engagement category.

"We have designed an app for Subotica, with which you can scan the QR codes on buildings and access audio content and text records about those buildings on your phone. Our goal was to bring the history of Subotica closer to young people and to make them more interested in it. Our city has a lot to offer with all the history and the buildings that surround us. They are beautiful; however, we hardly notice them while walking around the city. ", Staša points out.

Staša also had the opportunity to see beautiful buildings in Barcelona, where at the end of last year she was on a professional internship through the Erasmus program. There, together with the best students from her school, she spent three weeks working in a company closely related to her profession.

"I worked at the company 'My little Van Gogh' where I have created content for their social networks and website. I made some stop motion animations and photographed products - which is especially important. Of course, it's nice to see Barcelona and all those wonderful buildings and inspiring people but working and seeing what it's like to be there when you're not a tourist - waking up early in the morning and going to work every day by metro, that was genuinely nice for me," says Staša.

Staša Stantić is one of the 12 valedictorian's students, that the "IT Subotica 2030" organization awarded as part of the "Students of the Year" project. For further education, she chose the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, where she wants to enrol in the New Fine Media course. She will continue to deal with web design and digital art. As well as, continuing to cultivate drawing and painting, which she enjoys immensely.

"In 2030, I would like to see myself with a university degree, maybe even a master's degree. But also, with a lot of experience and travels behind me. I would also like to work somewhere, in Subotica in an IT company. When I finish university, I think I could come back and start my first job right here, because it's the most pleasant place for me to be. I love Subotica, and somehow, I'm attached to it. I think it's nice to live here because it's a quiet city, unlike other bigger cities, where life is more hectic, and I hope that in 2030 there will be more young people, cultural events and more will to have fun and create innovative ideas in Subotica ", says Staša.
