The IT sector in Subotica has evolved significantly in the past few decades. A growing number of companies specializing in IT are being founded and the town is becoming increasingly visible on the IT center map.
There are estimates that 1000 people are directly or indirectly involved in IT currently and that many young people from all over Serbia and even abroad come to the north of Bačka. For example, Vladimir Čočović came from Priboj to study economics. He stayed in Subotica and started building his career in digital marketing.
Aleksandar Pajić from Kljajićevo has a similar story. During his studies, he earned a scholarship, got a job offer, and stayed in Subotica. He is currently working as a programmer and designer in an IT company.
The town has been recognized as an IT center. However, there is still the need to raise awareness about Subotica as an IT town to a higher level. Compared to some other places, Subotica offers a better working environment and life dynamics, which is increasingly recognized by young people who are deciding to move to the town, and in this endeavor, they are encouraged by companies themselves, say representatives from the IT Cluster.
IT Cluster in Subotica currently brings together 20 companies and 6 educational institutions, and as Guganović notices, there’s always a lack of high-quality staff.
