The cycling tradition in Subotica is something we particularly like to highlight. The first bike path in our region was made way back in 1891 in Palić. Since then, cycling has become part of almost everybody’s life.
Lajoš Vermeš built the bike path in 1891 in Palić. It was the first of the kind in our region and since then Subotica has been seen as the town of cyclists. The bicycle has remained the most favorite means of transport for many people from Subotica. The plain, wide streets, and bike paths tell of the popularity of this ecological means of transport in Subotica, the town also known under the name “The lady of Pannonia”.
